Plaisir de Merle Merlot Wine

The warm weather of the Paarl Winelands provides theideal conditions for ripening of the grapes used for the Plaisir de Merle Merlot. This enables our winemaker, Niel Bester to wait until he is satisfied that the grapes have reached full maturity before they are harvested. The Merlot's soft tannins are well balanced with the fruitiness providing for sweeter plummy flavours in the wine and very little wood is detectable on the taste. This is due to what Bester describes as "responsible oaking" - enabling the right balance to be obtained, "an honest wine with no overpowering oakiness".
