Description
2009 saw the release of Devonair's first ever Cabernet Sauvignon Family Reserve. The idea of a Family Reserve was born when Leon and Rina felt the need for a real "serious" bottle of red wine. First and foremost, the wine had to be of a 4- or 5-Star quality.
The packaging of the wine had to communicate status, quality, the age old art of winemaking, but with a modern characteristic. It had to demand the respect it deserved at first glance ... a "wow" wine.
This full bodied red wine was created by blending two very special Cabernet Sauvignon wines, both from the 2006 vintage - 60% from Devonair and 40% from Grangehurst. Grangehurst Winery is a small specialist red wine cellar situated against the mountain on the way towards Somerset West. Most of Grangehurst's wines are specially packaged for the Cape Wine Makers Guild. These two wines have remarkable similarities - low yields, handpicked, handmade and matured for 3 years - yet they are very different on the nose and palate.
